Southlake is home to some of the most beautiful pools in North Texas, and also some of the most challenging soil conditions in the DFW area. At Excelsior Pool Services, we've worked on hundreds of pools throughout Southlake and know exactly what causes leaks and structural issues in this community. Whether you're in Timarron, Stratford Parc, or anywhere else in Southlake, we'll come to you, diagnose the problem accurately, and fix it right.

Why Southlake Pools Develop Leaks

Southlake sits on some of the most expansive clay soils in Tarrant County. When it rains, the soil swells. In dry summers like the ones North Texas is known for, it contracts sharply. That constant movement puts underground plumbing under stress and causes hairline cracks in gunite pool shells to grow over time. Many of the pools in Southlake were built in the 1990s and early 2000s during major neighborhood development, meaning a lot of them are at the age where plumbing and structural issues start to surface.

Questions We Hear From Southlake Homeowners

My pool loses about an inch of water a week, is that a leak?

That's on the borderline. Normal evaporation in a Texas summer can be half an inch to an inch per day on a hot, windy day. If you're consistently losing more than that, or if you're losing water even when the pool is covered or on mild days, it's likely a leak. Do the bucket test: fill a bucket with pool water, set it on the step, and compare the water levels after 24 hours. If the pool dropped more than the bucket, you have a leak.

How do you find the leak without tearing up my deck?

We start with pressure testing, isolating each plumbing line to identify which one is losing pressure. Then we use hydrophone listening equipment and dye testing to pinpoint the exact location, often without any excavation at all. We only dig when we know exactly where to dig.
